Plitvička jezera. Plitvice Lakes National Park

Plitvice Lakes CroatiaThe lower lakes:

The Plitvice Lakes are a series of 16 interconnected lakes, one flowing into the next. It is surrounded by forest and has excellent hiking paths and waterfalls. There is an unofficial division: the upper lakes and lower lakes. They are sort of separated by a huge lake, which has two routes of boat traffic. It’s typical that visitors staying for more than one day do the lower lakes one day, and the upper lakes the other. Since we parked in the lot closest to the lower lakes, that was our focus for the afternoon when we arrived.

And then the storm came.

There was certainly a changing sky as the clear afternoon turned into an hour of steady rainfall. I put the rain cover on my camera and tripod and enjoyed being poured on:

  1. I agree— the “stormy” picture is amazing. I said the same thing on Kellie’s blog, but I can’t believe how clear that water is, even so that you can see fish in pictures. That’s crazy. So beautiful.
