The decommisioned space shuttle Endeavour is going to be housed at the California Science Center in Los Angeles. Almost two weeks ago, it made its heavily-publicized journey from Florida over to California. On this journey, it flew attached atop a modified 747 jet, and it was accompanied by two fighter jets.
On the day of its final flight, it flew from Edwards AFB in California north to Sacramento and San Francisco, then made its way south. It made its way circling around famous LA sights for about an hour before touching down at LAX.
That day, I decided to hike up a trail into Temescal Canyon, which is about 1200 feet elevation – the plane was supposed to fly about 1500 feet up. I was the first person to the viewpoint, and was eventually joined by about 10 others-many who didn’t even know the shuttle was coming.
